Introduction

Protocol78 is used for data exchange between OrionM2M devices and the application server over a LoRaWAN network. It supports two-way communication:

  • from the device to the application server (status, telemetry, events);
  • from the application server to the device (configurations, requests, commands).

Data packets follow a fixed byte-oriented structure. Each FORMAT byte defines how to interpret the packet content (e.g., instant data, history data, tamper events, Modbus parameters, etc.).

The protocol provides a flexible layout that supports various device types, sensor data, and control commands.

info

All multi-byte numeric values are transmitted in Little-endian format (least significant byte first).
