Calibration

Before switching to the counting mode, OrionMeter ORN-TWM-LW868:

  • calculates the trigger thresholds and limits;
  • measures the signal swing and finds the lower and upper levels;
  • determines the type of the water meter's reflective disc.

Optical sensor unit auto-calibration

Calibration runs automatically. The device continuously measures illumination to calculate the compensation while counting the revolutions of the optical disc. Revolutions are counted in real time.

Successful auto-calibration requires at least 10 litres of water to flow through the meter.

After auto-calibration, the device generates a service packet with the encoder trigger thresholds and limits, the hysteresis and the meter's reflective disc type.

After auto-calibration, the device switches to the counting mode.

info

If OrionMeter ORN-TWM-LW868 is removed from the water meter for more than 3 seconds, auto-calibration runs again, and an alarm event packet is generated and sent to the LoRaWAN network.
